The Conduit was a Precursor artifact, capable of generating a massive slipspace portal. It was placed in the Deva's home galaxy in order to connect it to the Milky Way. The Deva later used The Conduit to escape to the Milky Way, in order to avoid complete absorbtion by the Flood. The Conduit's defense fleet then destroyed it to prevent the Flood from following.
